Make a Scratch-Off Hearts Card for Valentine's Day

Make this fun Valentine's Day card with our template, and type in your date-night choices. To finish the card, follow the easy steps below.
1. Download our template, available below. You can choose from a premade card or our template. Print the card onto cardstock and trim. Copy the card onto plain paper to get the heart template; cut out. Cut a strip of clear contact paper long enough to make four hearts. Trace around the heart template on the paper side of the contact paper.
2. To make the scratch-off solution, mix 2 parts metallic acrylic paint with 1 part dishwashing liquid. Using a small, flat paintbrush, apply a thin coat of the scratch-off solution onto the front side of the contact paper and let dry for an hour. Repeat with a second coat; add a third coat if your paint looks streaky.
3. Cut out the hearts (following the traced outline), peel off the backing, and place over the heart spaces on the card. Package the card with a new penny.
Here some details on how to make this Cute and Original card!

Vintage Clothespins -DIY

Hello lovelies!  I hope your week is going swimmingly so far.  Today I'm bringing you a little tutorial to show you how to make some sweet Decorative Wooden Clothespins that you can use to adorn inspiration wires, gifts and more.  I hope you will enjoy making your own variations of these pretty little clips.
Gift giving idea: Clip a row of fancy pins onto a manila tag, strip of decorative cardstock or pretty ribbon and present as a wee gift to someone special.
Version one - Fabric Pom Pom Flower Clothespins:
Supplies needed:
  • Standard wooden clothespins - generally found in the laundry supply section at stores such as Target (about $3 for 100).
  • Fabric scraps in solid colors or prints - light-weight cottons will work best.
  • Needle and thread - color should match the fabric you will be using.
  • Colored pencils (optional)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors
To begin with you will need to follow this awesome tutorial to create your fabric pom pom flowers (follow Tutorial II).  They are rather addictive to make and super easy (even my 11 year old daughter made some.  She turned hers into floral hairbands by stitching the finished flowers onto hair rubber-bands - and I'm planning to make a garland for my bedroom with the extra heap I've been making).
It should take you only about 3-5 minutes per flower.  For a small circular shape you can use an object in your home as a template to trace around, such as a milk cap or spool of thread.  I like how the flowers turn out when the circles are a bit more random, so I cut most of mine out without a template.  Tip: For a speedier project just accordion fold strips of fabric and cut your circle shape through all the layers to create multiple circles all at once).
  1. Rub the side of your colored pencil all over the surface of your clothespin until it is coated with color and then smudge with your fingertip to soften.  This will give your clothespin a charming effect that looks a lot like vintage paint.
  2. Apply a small dab of glue with your hot glue gun onto the clothespin as shown in the photo above.  Carefully attach your pom pom flower onto your pin by pressing it onto the hot glue.
  3. Clip on inspiration wires, use as gift tag holders on presents, place card holders at your wedding reception or next party, etc.
Version two - Fabric-covered clips:These clips are even easier to make than the first version.  A set of 10 can easily be made in less than 10 minutes.  Fun!
Supplies needed:
  • Standard wooden clothespins - generally found in the laundry supply section at stores such as Target (about $3 for 100).
  • Fabric scraps in solid colors or prints - light-weight cottons will work best.
  • Double-sided tape - permanent
  • Scissors
  1. Pull out a strip of double-sided tape that is as long or slightly longer than your clothespin.  Attach it to the surface of the clothespin making sure to keep it free from bubbles or creases.  The tape should be lined up evenly along one long edge so that the excess hangs off the other sides (seen in the photo above).  Trim off excess using your scissors - this works best when the tape-free side is facing towards you while you cut.
  2. Place your prepared clothespin tape-side down onto the back side of your fabric (make sure the right side of the fabric is facing down for this step so that it will be displayed correctly when you are done).  Turn over and use your finger to press and smooth the fabric onto the tape.  Cut excess fabric off all sides - this works best when the fabric-covered side is away from you while you cut.
  3. You're done!
I hope you will enjoy making your own fancy clothespins.  And please feel free to share this project with your friends and family (and blog readers)...maybe you can have a little craft party and make a bunch!  Enjoy!

Bad Girls Week #2 Homework

The Homework for this week was to play with Mixed patterns. Combining different patterns can be stunning and dramatic on your pages if you do it right. There's a trick to mixing and matching patterns and colors. You need a healthy dose of creative imagination and some courage to use variety

Principle 1- Colors
Color remains an extremely important aspect, particularly how you use it. Patterned Papers have a gazillion colors to choose from. So how do you decide which papers to mix?

Principle 2 - Gallon, Quart and Pint
This has been a design principle in Interior Decorating forever and it works in scrapbooking too. When mixing patterns, mix pattern scales as well. One pattern should be large, one medium and one small. If you decide you want a floral pattern as your attention getter, pick a large pattern. Then pair it with, say a thin, narrow pattern of stripes with similar colors as the large floral. Make the large pattern your "signature" pattern, the one that grabs the atention. Be sure that the other patterns are smaller and more subdued

Principle 3 - VARY PATTERNS
Mixing various types of patterns is a good way to get started. Think florals with stripes and grid paper. Using three florals together, even if they are different scales, will look busy and cluttered. As you can see, for this layout I chose a floral, a dot and a stripe.

Principle 4 - Play!
Remember...there's no right or wrong in scrapbooking. Experiement with mixing patterns and see what mix YOU like. Play with whimsical papers and designs that fit your theme. Play with colors in embellishments and trims. Sometimes you can break all of the rules and LOVE the result. Try a few different things until you get the feel for mixing patterns and you'll be hooked in no time!

Tree of Friendship

What do "friend" means! How you define a friendship? Perhaps as the co-operative and supportive behavior between two or more beings..I rather prefer to think that my friend is one who knows us, but loves us anyway.

For many years I have the blessing of being Friend with Marisol, and is the most amazing thing! We talk, we laugh, we cry together! I support her and she listen, never Judge and always have a right words to lift me up when I'm sad

This LO is for you My Dear Mari, because you are so dear to my heart..

This Lo was made with one of my favorite PPlines it comes from France and I just received yesterday! The look is kind of distress, I ink the paper and crumble it! add some stitching and new brads form K&Co, the tree is from Riff-Raff..below some more detail

I called this LO "Tree of friendship", because for me it represent our roots...strong...our branches were we mix our tears, laughs and sorrows. A friendship so strong that a hurricane could shake..but never break!

Here some extra detail of the K&Co new brads line...they are so cool!

And here a closer look of the tree and embellishments..I add some vintage heart and some fabric
